 BAND INFO

The Cologne based trio „Komplizen der Spielregeln“ („Accomplices of the rules of the game“) have undergone a metamorphosis in the 15 years of their musical creation and experimentation together.

Since 2016 the idea of the group has been pursued as a trio (Frank Nagel, Tobias Ortmanns, Volker Weide) both in the studio and on stage. In addition, Hannes Jaeckl (Sans Secour, Ampersand,Chaplin etc.) is now making an important contribution not only to further the development of studio and stage sound but also performance and can be described as an additional band member.

Even though the indie rock and postpunk of the first 2 records continues to resonate in attitude and aesthetics, KdS have impressively rearranged their sound panorama, refurbishing and moving towards Düsseldorf Kraut-Pop. Thus creating a new energy with musical reduction and finesse in a world with its own sound between electronic beats, pop, harmony and midi jitter.

With an audible attention to detail they sampled, experimented, changed and created more space for the voice of Tobias Ortmanns, which sounds better than ever, including great lyrics between dadaism, abstraction and ambiguity.
Big pictures, small worlds. Non-linear narratives open up spaces in which one seeks orientation and finds oneself unexpectedly. The hooklines are as accurate as they are unreliable, they mess around and get stuck in the listeners memory. Despite all the supposed complexity, it's still about pop music. Never before has the band been as close to this claim as with their current sound.
